Basic Conditions of Employment Act The Basic Conditions of Employment Act 75 of 1997 is a South African law that regulates the basic conditions of employment in the country. It covers topics such as hours of work, leave, pay, health and safety, and provides for matters connected therewith. The act intends to give effect to the right to fair labour practices referred to in section 23 (1) of the Constitution by establishing and making provision for the regulation of basic conditions of employment; and thereby to comply with the obligations of the Republic as a member state of the International Labour Organisation. The act has been amended several times, most recently by the Labour Laws Amendment Act 10 of 2018 and the Basic Conditions of Employment Amendment Act 7 of 2018 |

Broadcasting Act 4 of 1999 The Broadcasting Act 4 of 1999 regulates the broadcasting sector in South Africa. The act was established to repeal the Broadcasting Act, 1976 (Act No. 73 of 1976), so as to establish a new broadcasting policy for the Republic; to amend certain provisions of the Independant Broadcasting Authority Act, 1993 (Act No. 153 of 1993) [repealed in 2006]; to clarify the powers of the Minister in regard to policy formulation and the Authority’s powers with respect to the regulation and licensing of the broadcasting system; to provide for classes of broadcasting activities in the public interest and for that purpose- to provide a Charter for the South African Broadcasting Corporation Ltd; to establish the Frequency Spectrum Directorate in the Department; to establish the South African Broadcasting Production Advisory Body; and to establish a human resource capacity in policy development; and to provide for matters connected therewith. |
Competitions Act The Competitions Act provides for the establishment of a Competition Commission responsible for the investigation, control and evaluation of restrictive practices, abuse of dominant position, and mergers; and for the establishment of a Competition Tribunal responsible to adjudicate such matters; and for the establishment of a Competition Appeal Court; and for related matters. |

Copyright Amendment Bill The Copyright Amendment Bill (B13B-2017) is a bill passed by the National Assembly on September 1, 2022, and sent for assent. The bill aims to amend the Copyright Act, 1978, to define certain words and expressions, to allow for the reproduction of copyright work, to protect copyright in artistic work, to accredit Collecting Societies, to resolve royalties disputes, to permit fair use, to provide for the protection of orphan works, to create the Intellectual Property Tribunal, to appoint members of the Intellectual Property Tribunal, to provide for the powers and functions of the Intellectual Property Tribunal, to prohibit conduct in respect of technological protection measures, to manage digital rights, and to create new offences. The bill also introduces new definitions, terms, and offences, and introduces measures to protect people with disabilities, orphan works, and collecting societies. |
National Qualifications Framework Act The National Qualifications Framework (NQF) is a system that records the credits assigned to each level of learning achievement in a formal way to ensure that the skills and knowledge that have been learnt are recognised throughout the country. The NQF is governed by the National Qualifications Framework Act 67 of 2008, which provides for the National Qualifications Framework, the South African Qualifications Authority, Quality Councils, and transitional arrangements. |
NQF Amendment Act 12 of 2019 Published on 19 August 2019, the NQF Amendment Act No 12 of 2019, tightens the legal requirements and strengthens the hands of NQF bodies to inspire confidence in the education and training system. It provides for the formulation of criteria for declaring national qualifications authentic and for evaluating foreign qualifications. It also provides for the establishment and maintenance of separate registers of misrepresented or fraudulent qualifications or part-qualifications; provides for a separate register for professional designations; and provides for offences and penalties which have a bearing on fraudulent qualifications. |

Protocol for the assessment and reporting of noise impacts This protocol provides the criteria for the specialist assessment and minimum report content requirements for the impacts of noise on the environment for activities requiring environmental authorisation. This protocol replaces the requirements of Appendix 6 of the Environmental Impact Assessment Regulations. The assessment and reporting requirements of this protocol are associated with a level of environmental sensitivity identified by the national web based environmental screening tool (screening tool).
