About SACIA

The Southern African Communications Industries Association is a not for profit organisation registered as a Section 21 company in South Africa. It is specifically designed to promote the adoption of professional standards and ethical business practice in the communications industry throughout Southern Africa. It seeks to further the interests of members through partnership and representation on a range of issues. Primary activities include Market Research & Intelligence Services, Networking activities, and the development of training and skills development programmes. SACIA is registered with SAQA as a professional body active in the broadcast and audio-visual sectors, and awards professional designations based on an individuals proven skills and work experience. SACIA works in close cooperation with InfoComm International and the IABM (International Association of Broadcasting Manufacturers) to stimulate the development of our industry on an international basis.

The Association is a member-driven organization. It is governed by a Board of Directors elected by the members, with an Executive Director and support staff appointed to manage association activities. Current Board members are Wynand Langenhoven (chairman), Bruce Genricks, Elaine Shellard, Paul Fraser, Gavin Olivier, Duncan Riley and Kevan Jones (Executive Director)

In November 2014, SACIA merged with the TPSA (Technical Production Services Association). The TPSA is now established as a Special Interest Group within SACIA

 
AFFILIATES
In order to engage more fully within our industry sector, SACIA maintains membership in the following organisations:

SASFED: The South African Screen Federation (SASFED) is the national federation of independent film, television and audiovisual content industry organisations in South Africa. Founded in 2006 in response to Government’s call for the independent production sector to speak with a united voice, SASFED represents a broad spectrum of industry players, via affiliates representing several thousand individual members and hundreds of member companies employing up to a hundred staff.

EVENT GREENING FORUM: The aim of the Event Greening Forum (EGF) is to promote and embrace sustainable and ethical business practices within the events industry in South Africa, with an initial focus on meetings, incentives, conferences, exhibitions and events (hereafter called events industry). The EGF was established through the dedication and support of the industry associations who are recognised as founding members.
